Prince takes flight

Handsome Prince takes flight...

Prince is hardly recognisable from the cat he was when he arrived at Woodland Nook. He was very stressed and had been losing fur on his back. But he’s calmed down a lot and is looking a lot healthier. He’s truly a handsome Prince and will soon be heading off to his new home for his very own happy ever after.

Noris takes a nap

Isn’t he gorgeous? Little Noris is really too tiny to be away from his Mummy but, thankfully, the bigger kittens have shown him how to use a litter tray and he’s settled in very well. Here he is taking a nap on my knee. I couldn’t bear to disturb him...

Our newest resident

Say hello to our newest resident, Graham Charles. Graham was found in quite a poor state of health, terrified but friendly. He was discovered riddled with fleas and covered in scabs, bald on his back legs.

Taken in by Jane at Woodland Nook, he was treated for worms and fleas immediately and checked by a vet within two hours. He is under a year old and castrated but not chipped.

Thankfully Graham is now on the road to recovery and will soon be looking for a new home.

New kittens!

More new kittens at Woodland Nook! Meet Pixie, Dixie and Trixie (hope I’ve got that right!). Not sure which one is which just yet but one thing’s for sure; they’re all really cute.

They are still very scared and, on Sunday, had completely disappeared until eagle-eyed Jane found one hiding in a cat carrier and two up in the rafters. Hopefully they’ll settle in soon and start to have fun with all the other kittens at the shelter.

Baby, haven't you grown!

Haven’t Bella’s babies grown? Unfortunately I don’t have a decent pic of the black kitten (it’s pretty dark in the corner of the isolation unit) but I can show you the other three. They all have names, now, too, so meet Betty and Billy-Bob, and their brother Martin. The little black kitten is called Alan!

Beautiful Clary

Beautiful Clary (Clarissa) is all the way from Crete. She's gorgeous and she knows it - just look at those eyes! (Bit heavy on the eyeliner, perhaps)

Yes, even more kittens!

There are two new kittens at Woodland Nook. Yes, even more kittens! These two arrived separately, and are extremely tiny and very, very cute. So allow me to introduce you to Doris and Noris!

Doris has a wash

Being this cute is exhausting - Doris has a nap

How could anyone say no to those eyes?

MORE kittens!

It’s turning into kitten paradise at Woodland Nook, with the arrival of a further FOUR new babies. More on their story later; meanwhile, meet Eddie, Sarah, Monty and Bob!

Domino's delivery

Look who has arrived at Woodland Nook! This is Domino, who was found, lost and alone, in a hedge near Hardwick Hall. He’s only 8-10 weeks old so really shouldn’t have been out and about on his own so, as there were no houses nearby to check, he was brought back to the safety of our shelter.

Look at his gorgeous little white shirt! He has white gloves and socks, too.

What ARE you up to, Boris?

Seriously, Boris... what ARE you up to? Where are you hiding now?

Ah yes, in the litter bin .... that’s a bin for cat litter, not to be confused with a litter bin! Our volunteers turned their backs for two minutes and found Boris hiding in there. Fortunately that’s all he was doing.

After a shaky start, Boris has really settled down and turned into a lovely, friendly cat. He still isn’t keen on other cats, but he’s very much a people person. Do you have room in your home for a lucky black cat?

£550 raised at our tea party!

A wonderful time was had by all who attended our annual tea party at Woodland Nook at the weekend. Huge thanks to everyone who came along, helped or donated – without you we couldn’t have raised an amazing £550! This is double the amount raised last year so we are absolutely delighted! Here are some more pictures from the day...

Lisa put in lots of effort to make the table look beautiful

Delicious goodies on display

Everything looked so tempting

You couldn't miss these incredible photo cakes...
... and yes, there was even a cake with Jane on it!

There were fantastic prizes to be won on the raffle...

...Solo wasn’t one of them, but he still wouldn’t get off the raffle table!

Popeye, meanwhile, says: “Who needs cake when you can have this much fun with catmint?”
