Mother and babies doing well

Bella and her babies are doing very well. Look what a loving mummy she is! Two are definitely boys, two are not yet confirmed, we’ll wait and see. All are absolutely gorgeous!

Welcome to our new arrivals

We are very excited to welcome four new babies to Woodland Nook. Mum Bella arrived at the shelter a few days ago and this morning gave birth to four gorgeous kittens. Take a look at these little cuties – hasn’t she done well?

It’s a good job our new isolation unit was ready in time. It’s the perfect home for Bella and the babies, away from the prying eyes and noses of the other Woodland Nook residents.

Our new isolation unit is ready

Check out the new-look isolation unit! Paul has transformed the old Wendy House into this lovely chalet-style building which has more space and incorporates a cunning trap for catching those tricky cats who go into hiding. A full-sized door on the side makes access easier for volunteers, too.

It’s currently being used as a general eating/sleeping area for the cats but can be called into use as an isolation unit as and when necessary.

Happy ending for Suki

It’s a happy ending for Suki, who has gone off to her new home. Suki is a grand old lady, who is 20 years old! So it’s wonderful that she will be spending her last days in a loving home.

It’s very quiet in her corner of the shelter lounge, though – it doesn’t seem the same without Suki holding court from her bed.

Paul's moment of glory

Paul’s fantastic woodwork was showcased in the Derby Telegraph yesterday. As you may know, Paul creates fabulous wooden garden furniture and ornaments to sell in aid of Woodland Nook Cat Rescue. You can see some of his creations on our shop page, here.

If you missed yesterday’s Derby Telegraph, don’t worry, you can see the article and pix by clicking here.

Suki: a loving old lady

Aha! So she CAN walk! This is the most delightful Suki who, due to her advanced years seems to have tricked several of the volunteers into giving her breakfast in bed. But she clearly gets up to visit the litter trays, which are a fair step away for a 20-year-old cat!

As you can see from this lovely video, Suki is a most affectionate cat. As mentioned, she isn’t particularly active, but she absolutely thrives on attention, loves being stroked and a (gentle) brush. She would LOVE to spend the rest of her life in a loving home, where she can get all the attention she so desperately craves. Could you be the one to give Suki a happy ending?
