New arrivals

Four tiny new arrivals at Woodland Nook today. Ash, Cally, Mikey and Luke... who were found dumped on the streets and left to fend for themselves! They are so small... just a few weeks old.

There was a fifth kitten but tragically, that one is missing and evidence leads us to believe it has been killed by a dog. Very upsetting but we are so pleased that these four young lives have been saved and they are now out of harm's way in the nursery at Woodland Nook, where they are sure to thrive.

Coming soon... Sophia

Coming soon to Woodland Nook is beautiful little Sophia, rescued by Jane and Paul from Crete. Honestly, they are unstoppable!

Something tells me Jane will struggle to let this one go, so watch this space...

Loulou - STILL needs a home

Isn’t it time that Loulou had the forever home she deserves? She’s been at Woodland Nook for a very long time, apart from a very short spell when we was adopted but returned!

Loulou has bags of personality. She’s a great character who will give you lots of love. But we have to be honest and say that she demands to be treated with respect. If you don’t follow her cues and leave her alone when she’s had enough fuss, she’ll soon let you know with a little nip or a swipe of a paw.

But treat her right and she’ll make a fabulous companion. She’s full of fun, enjoys climbing trees,  chasing toys and twigs. But her most favourite activity of all is playing with water. If she’s getting under the volunteers’ feet, all they need to do is leave a tap dripping and she’ll stay out of their way.

Loulou really doesn’t like other cats all that much (apart from One-Eyed Bob, for whom she has a grudging respect), so is really desperate to leave Woodland Nook and find a new home where she’ll be the boss ... and have the bathroom tap all to herself.

New homes for Smudge and Stewie

There ’s been an explosion of black and white cats at Woodland Nook lately, and they’re all adorable in different ways!

The latest to leave us is Smudge and I’m afraid this is the only picture I have of him. He’s a lovely little baby, who spent Sunday morning curled up on me, purring happily. Naturally his new owners were easily won over and he’s now settling in happily and renamed Ziggy.

Plenty more black and white kittens and cats left, though – why not arrange a visit to check them out?

Another Woodland Nook resident to head off to a new home this week is Stewie. He was only “resting” at the shelter on his way from Crete to his new home but, in his short time at Woodland Nook, he charmed the volunteers!

Do you want to give a happy ever after to a rescue cat? There are plenty more at Woodland Nook!

Dalton needs a home

Meet Dalton, a rather handsome young chap who was brought to Woodland Nook a couple of weeks ago. As a young male, he’s making his presence felt in the shelter, causing mischief and mayhem among the kittens. He’d love a forever home, where he can be top cat without having to fight for his position. Could that home be yours?

Update on Dolly

Happily, we can report that Dolly is now on the mend and recuperating with kind foster parents, Wendy and Emma. She’s on antibiotics, eye drops and special food, but is settling in well in her temporary home and, once she is fighting fit again, will be looking for a forever home.

The vet bill still needs paying though, so all donations gratefully received!

Dolly - an urgent appeal

This is little Dolly. She has never been a well kitten because she has a bad leg which may, at some point, need to be operated on. However, in the past day or so, things have taken a turn for the worse for poor little Dolly, who became severely dehydrated and developed a very high temperature.

She is currently in hospital, on a drip and antibiotics. We are keeping everything crossed for her.

However, looking at the practical side of things, Woodland Nook is facing a vet’s bill of upwards of £200... so any donations would be gratefully received! You can donate easily through Paypal, whether you have an account or not, by sending it to money directly via Paypal, to woodlandnook@hotmail.com. Alternatively, click the donate button at the top right.

Hope you can help! Thank you so much

Kitty storage system

No room for more cats? No problem! Try our tried and tested two-tier kitty storage system, as modelled here by Loulou (top) and One-Eyed Bob.

Of course, it didn’t stay this peaceful for long, as Loulou and Bob, while delightful animals, aren’t noted for their love of other cats.

Thankfully, Loulou can give as good as she gets!

Loulou and Bob are both lovely animals who really need a forever home. Loulou is a feisty madam but would make a wonderful pet. She can be very loving but does like to be treated with respect (and, frankly, who doesn’t?)

Bob has had a tough time and lost an eye but he doesn’t let this hold him back and he’s a real character. Really lovely with people, just not a big fan of other cats.

Oddly enough, Loulou and Bob seem to tolerate each other pretty well...
most of the time.

Another little cutie

Meet little baby Porsche (or is it Portia?). Forgive me, I know nothing about this little cutie other than it is adorable and a little bit scared. Want to open your home to a bundle of cuteness? How could you resist?
